Counting in Portuguese

Would you like to learn how to count in Portuguese? It is similar to other Romance languages. So, if you know one of them, it will be very simple.  If not, don’t worry! It’s not difficult.

Here are the numbers from 0 to 10.

Números_opt0  – zero

 1  – um               

 2 – dois

 3 – três

 4 – quarto

 5 – cinco

 6 – seis

 7 – sete

 8 – oito

 9 – nove

10 – dez

 

Heads Up

Well, There is a tricky thing about numbers one and two; they also have a feminine form when written before feminine nouns.

Examples: 

  • um menino (one boy) ~  uma menina (one girl)
  • dois meninos (two boys)  ~ duas meninas (two girls)

 

Here are the numbers from 11 to 20:

11 – onze

12 – doze

13 – treze

14 – quatorze

15 – quinze

16 – dezesseis

17 – dezesete

18 – dezoito

19 – dezenove

20 – vinte
